Chinchilla Mucus at ?

We have 2 chinchillas. We've had the older one for 7 months and the baby for 1 1/2 months. My baby chin is about 3 1/2 mos old, she's been healthy and she isn't showing any signs of illness now, however, while holding her tonight I noticed that her poops were coming out attached to a string of clear mucus. The poops aren't soft, they're not oddly shaped. They just seem to be coming out coated in a layer of mucus. The hair around her "little area" is sticky and she has some white crusty which I ume is dried up mucus. The only major change she has experienced is the bedding in her cage. For simplicity in cleaning the cage, we tried a clay cat litter in place of the paper or wood chip bedding. Is cat litter known as a taboo for chinchilla bedding? Is there another reason she might be sliming?
