Why do girls or guys always tell you gift are material things?

She is only thinking of the physical gift itself and not the thought and care and sacrifice behind it. Not very thoughtful and it's dismissive of you but apparently she's mad re whatever the issue is, and does not care if your feelings are hurt. Gifts can mean alot more than the actual "thing" itself but in the heat of the moment, well, you are feeling the negativity right now.
