My brother has Aspergers and something happened today that scared me?

My brother had a meltdown today like the worst one he has ever had and he woke up and started trying to punch himself in the face =(. My mom like yelled bloody murder for me and i had to help her restrain my brother i couldn't help but cry. Why did my brother keep trying to hit himself? Why did my mom yell at me for crying?
